Long-distance move from Tujunga, CA to Boulder, CO

Beware of The Levic Overcharge Scam

This company is HORRIBLE to deal with and has a great scam going. They quote you a per cubic sq/ft fee and then show up with an undersized truck and tell you that it holds far more than it actually does. Here's my story...

I contracted with Levic Moving and Storage dba "Levic Van Lines" to move all my household possession from Los Angeles, CA to Boulder, CO at a rate of 4.55 sq/ft. On April 26, 2021, Levic showed up with a moving truck they claimed was "26 feet long."

Near the end of the packing, it became clear that all my belongings would not fit in their truck – even though the 26’ truck used was based on the Levic calculation of all my itemized household goods (estimate was 275 items, actual was 265 items). The movers left 2 to 3 feet of unused space at the top of the first truck and called in a 2nd truck to accomodate the supposed overage. The result: even though I received Binding Estimate of $7,000, I was charged $12,100 on the day of the move - after the truck were fully packed.

Amazingly, all belongings arrived in ONE Penske 26’ truck. Per the Penske website, their 26’ truck has a capacity of 1,700 cubic square feet. The math is simple: The amount quoted was $4.55 cu/sq/ft times 1,700 sq/ft = $7,735. Subtract the discount offered by Levic in the Binding Estimate of $833.95 and add the fuel surcharge fee of $501.85 and the storage fee of $225 and the amount comes to $7,627.90, not $12,100, an overcharge of $4,472.10. Levic clearly sent a truck less than 26’ packed it inefficiently and then used the scam to overcharge me on the day of the move and after everything had been loaded in their trucks.

Levic also promised delivery on 7/1/21 and showed up on 7/8/21 costing me $699.33 in lost rent.

Finally, Levic broke and lost items totaling $1,050 as confirmed and signed off on the Bill of Lading by the movers who arrived with my goods.

If you were scammed the way I was, I urge you to file a complaint with the BBB, the Bureau of Household Goods and Services, the U.S. Department of Transportation: Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the FMCSA, and on as many of these sites as possible. This company is unethical, fraudulent, and virtually unresponsive (I logged over 50 calls without a return call).

Note that Levic Van Lines is the business name for Levic Moving and Storage located at 201 KING OF PRUSSIA ROAD SUITE 650, WAYNE PA 19087 when filing complaints.

Official company response

We apologize for the inconvenience with your move. Mr. Langford received a binding price prior to loading, the contract states a flat fee, David the Forman at the job site never told him we need one or two trucks!

When we arrived at the warehouse we were able to consolidate everything on one truck, its much easier to load in the warehouse than it is at a job site, but at no time did we write anything about CF we provided a binding price inclusive everything, shuttle material and quantity of items and boxes.

We are trying to explain everything to Mr. Langford but today it’s a tool to blast all on internet!
We believe we haven’t done anything wrong regarding this shipment. If its okay with Mr. Langford we will like to upload all paperwork.

Everything went very smoothly!

Team go above and beyond to help make moving stress-free and super speedy! I contacted the guy with barely a week's notice and within the hour he had everything sorted as I asked! On the day, the movers kept me updated regarding their arrival time, were cheerful, polite, kind and efficient, moving everything into my new home in no time at all - can't recommend this service highly enough! Thanks!!

They answered my questions with grace and poise even though many of those questions were based on out of date guidelines. The Gentleman were truly exceptional. The review

10/10 would not recommend this company. At first it was a great experience, the lady I worked with (Amy) seemed to be very informative about what I was getting myself Into. We have never moved this big of a distance so it was obviously already stressful and the thought of a company I’ve never heard about was a bit worse.(Should’ve just bought a uhaul and did everything myself) I was quoted around $1300 for everything, signed the contract and everything. I was warned about the amount of stairs being more than ten it would cost more and I was fine with that. I had my date set for pick up two weeks before we leave to a whole new state. Well I get a call almost a month before and Amy is asking if they can pick our stuff up earlier because of holiday season and everyone is moving etc. to ENSURE that we get our stuff at our by our move in date which was a month later. I honestly didn’t mind a month I understood during these circumstances that would be necessary. So the day the movers come (David &Tony) they show up an hour after the time given to me (between 8-11) so they show up at 12. They were friendly but destructive a bit with our bedroom items and my walls. They did take the time to ensure my tv’s were completely protected which was wonderful as they weren’t broken when we got them. During that time though I got charged an additional $250 for two extra stairs and then walking a little more than 150 feet. I was also told that the process Amy explained for pickup was wrong and that I didn’t get to choose my date. I was starting to get stressed finding out that the contract I signed pretty much meant nothing. So now comes time for us to move a month later and we are supposed to receive a call 24hrs before our drop off. I also was told they deliver in a semi trailer so us moving into apartments made that impossible and we would have to pay for a shuttle. Another $500-$600 for that but I chose to have it dropped off at my family’s house. (Which I now had to load my own stuff) and still pay for a trailer to take it from point A to point B. I’m now at $2000 dollars for this. There was no communication from the dispatch team unless I constantly contacted them just to get some kind of response which was always vague. Now we are two more weeks into our new move (so a month and a half later) we finally get the call about our stuff coming. The company that dropped off(apparently an outside company that Levic Van Lines uses) continuously complained in front of myself and my family about the heavy boxes we had and we couldn’t verify any of our things before they unloaded and we paid them. Not to mention my Fiancé was helping them as well because of all the complaining.Come to find our our coffee table was missing and my dresser and nightstand were damaged along with kitchen stuff. Absolutely way more stressful of an experience than just loading it ourselves and taking it. Only saved $500 and added on consistent stress for almost two months of waiting.

ZERO STARS

This company is to put it plainly, evil. They lie to you up front about costs and delivery. Like many have mentioned, Amy was involved in the initial quote and sale. Do not believe a word she says. They had my stuff in storage for over a month. I called every week and was told the first week it was loaded on a truck waiting to be taken. Then the truck needed repairs, to call back Monday. Called back Monday and was told that wasn’t true, the driver was actually in the hospital. Call back next Monday. Called back and the truck had actually never been loaded and my stuff was still in storage in Miami. Another week goes by and nothing. Finally call and am told a driver is on his way from TX. A week later I was told my stuff was loaded and it would be 5-7 days before delivery. It arrived 2 days later, (I know great news you’d think) but they refused to wait to deliver until I was off work. So I had to leave my brand new job to meet their movers. If I did not they were threatening to leave my stuff outside, and still charge me extra, or to put my stuff in storage and charge me extra. This all after they misquoted me originally and charged me $3000 more, and after waiting over a month to get my stuff. I can not express how rude, cold, and disrespectful the employees are. They will lie through their teeth about everything, and even tell you previous employees you talked to lied to you. I was cursed at, screamed at, and threatened. They LITERALLY do not care about you, or your things. Boxes arrived ripped, squashed, and open. About the only positives were the people they contract to actually do the loading and unloading of the truck, both were very nice. I feel terrible that they work for a company that cares so little for not only them, but also their clients. Bottom line, DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!! Pay extra and go with a company like UPack, you’ll end up paying the difference with fees and extra costs. You can only pay in ways you can’t dispute later which they know you will. They also basically blackmail you for more money after they have your stuff, and that contract you signed prevents you from doing a thing about it. BEWARE AND DO NOT USE LEVIC VAN LINES!!!!

Long-distance move from Florida to Oregon

Levic van lines

Levic van Lines packed up a small amount of furniture in early February in Wellington, Florida for shipment to Portland, Oregon. It was for my step-daughter and they required a "cash tip" to load the furniture which she paid.

I paid a moving deposit on February 3, 2021; shortly therafter Levic demanded to be paid in full before "dispatching" the shipment. Payment occurred via wire transfer to Levic's BOA account (March 2021) after obtaining a written invoice (which was not easy to obtain) for documentation. Wire transfer has been verified, both with BOA and Levic.

4 months later - still no furniture. When I contact dispatch no one seems to know what is happening and promise to follow-up; so far no furniture has been delivered despite sending copies of the invoice accompanied by the paid wire transfer from BOA.

I would avoid this company if at all possible. I called again today and a new phone person promised to investigate once dispatch returns from "lunch."

Long-distance move from Woodside, NY to Sun City Center, FL

Don’t Do it

At first Amy Houston was helpful. Once I made the first payment I never heard from Amy again. I give them 1 star because the pick up was on time. But the delivery was 7 days late, and my brand new couch arrived wet and ripped. There were 4 boxes drenched the shoes, the linen and appliances in them were also drenched in water. I picked this company because it was the cheapest one I found ($2800). however with the loss of a $3k couched, designer shoes and appliances I wish I had made a different decision. This company changes their name often so reviews like this one doesn’t affect them. I know how stressful moving is, but do yourself a favor don’t go with this company. I moved from NYC to Florida and this place is horrible. DONT DO IT. I wish I could write a google review. But can’t find the way to do so. I will be reporting this company to the BBB.
